Audition for

Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater's

THE JUNGLE BOOK

 

We are thrilled to announce academy auditions for this new ballet based on Rudyard Kipling’s collection of stories about a boy adopted and raised by wolves fulfilling his quest for identity, love and belonging. Directed and choreographed by AXCBT Director Gabriel Chajnik, The Jungle Book is a groundbreaking collaboration with classical Indian dance teacher Sudha Shekhar Devulapalli. 

Performances will be Feb. 2-11 at the Axelrod PAC in Deal.

Audition Requirements:

All students who are currently participating in Polar Express have an automatic spot in the Jungle Book cast and do not need to audition. 

 

Auditions: 

Monday Nov. 20 (5pm - 5:45pm – Ages 7-12 / 6pm – 6:45 Ages 13-18) Bell Studio (Holmdel, NJ)  &  Monday December 4th (5pm - 5:45pm – Ages 7-12 / 6pm – 6:45 Ages 13-18) stage at Axelrod Performing Arts Center (Deal, NJ)  

 

Auditions include a free workshop taught by Gabriel Chajnik where students will have the opportunity to learn movement and choreography from The Jungle Book.

 

Students should register for the auditions before attending. 

Students in Polar Express do not need to audition but they need to register for the Ballet by November 19. There is a $300 Performance fee and students must be enrolled in one class at APAA.

Participation Requirements:

We are excited that you/your child would like to participate in this year’s production of the The Jungle Book. Please make sure that you’re available for all the dates listed below.   All dancers MUST be enrolled in at least one APAA weekly class and be available for the following :

 

Saturday & Sunday Rehearsals starting January 6th.

Saturdays

Ages 12-18 ~ 11am -2pm – Class included

Ages 7-12 ~ 2pm – 4pm – Warm Up included 

Sundays

Ages 12-18 ~ 10am – 3pm – Class included

Ages 7 – 12 ~ 12pm – 2:30 (Holmdel Room) 

 

 

 

*Absence from regular rehearsals is allowed for illness/emergency, call or text Olivia Miranda, 609 315 6491. If absence is preplanned, then notify APAA via email apaa@axelrodartscenter.org in advance of the date of absence, dancer’s name and reason for absence. Note that a student missing 50 percent of rehearsals will be dismissed from the production. 

Dancers are expected to arrive 15 minutes early for every rehearsal to dress and warm up. Wear a ballet class uniform with hair up and back from face.


$300 Fee to participate in the production will help cover rehearsal time, teaching staff, choreographers, costume rental/purchase.

 

-All dancers MUST be enrolled in at least one APAA weekly class.
